Allan Macrae is a Senior Counsel at RCT Stringer Clark, bringing almost three decades of personal injury expertise to the firm and playing a pivotal role in mentoring and developing the next generation of personal injury lawyers.
Allan’s legal career began in 1996, and from the outset he has been deeply committed to the pursuit of justice for injured clients. In 2001, he was accredited as a Specialist in Personal Injury Law by the Law Institute of Victoria, a recognition that reflected both his expertise and his standing within the profession. Over the years that followed, Allan rose through the ranks at Slater and Gordon Lawyers, progressing from lawyer through to associate, partner, practice group leader, and ultimately principal lawyer. From 2014, he focused his practice exclusively on medical negligence claims, becoming one of Victoria’s most respected voices in this complex and sensitive area of law.
His excellence in medical negligence was recognised by Doyle’s Guide across multiple years, earning a Leading Medical Negligence Compensation Lawyer designation in 2015 and Recommended Medical Negligence Compensation Lawyer recognition in 2020, 2021, and 2022, a consistent acknowledgement of the calibre of his work and the outcomes he achieves for clients.
In mid-2023, Allan added another string to his bow, completing the Victorian Bar Lawyers Mediator Course and qualifying as a nationally accredited mediator. He is listed on the Register of Nationally Accredited Mediators maintained by the Mediator Standards Board, the only authoritative register of mediators accredited under the National Scheme, bringing a valuable dispute resolution perspective to his already formidable skill set.
Allan was drawn to RCT Stringer Clark by the firm’s collaborative and flexible culture, and by the opportunity to contribute to an industry-leading organisation with a genuine commitment to nurturing emerging talent in personal injury law.
Outside of the office, Allan is a devoted family man who enjoys cooking, coaches his daughter’s netball team, and in what might be his most unexpected pursuit, is an occasional apiarist. The beekeeping, he assures us, is purely for fun.
