Ryan Carlisle Thomas wishes to acknowledge with considerable sadness the untimely death earlier this week of a former partner, Simon Garnett.
Those who knew or associated with Simon in any way will be devastated by the news that he died suddenly and we extend our deepest condolences to his family and his many friends and colleagues who will be deeply saddened to learn of his death.
For those who didn’t know Simon, he was a part of Ryan Carlisle Thomas for a long and memorable time from 1982, becoming a partner in 1989 and remained in that role until 2006 when he retired from the firm in order to take up a position as a Magistrate. It was a position in which he served with aplomb until his retirement in 2022.
Simon was also closely involved with the Australian Lawyers Alliance, first as a foundation member and eventually as the organisation’s Victorian State President and a National Director from 2003 to 2005.
He will be sorely missed by all of those who worked with him for many years at Ryan Carlisle Thomas as well as in the larger community.
Vale.
