$130,000 WorkCover win for finger amputee
James Mathieson, a 32-year-old tradesman from Wantirna South has been awarded $130,000 in damages by the Victorian County Court.
The man suffered the injury to his left hand while using a drop saw to cut wooden bearers in a truck loading site.
Mr. Mathieson’s index finger was amputated and he sustained lacerations and nerve damage to his thumb and middle finger.
In a jury decision, the payment was awarded for the pain and suffering resulting from the injury.
