Back Injury (Work-related injury)

43 year old man who suffered a lower back disc prolapse resulting in surgery as a result of heavy and repetitive lifting and moving animal carcasses over time in his work as a labourer/butcher. To his credit our client was able to obtain part time alternative employment after his injury. WorkSafe refused to accept that despite his efforts to obtain work, our client continued to suffer economic loss. The matter ultimately settled at the door of the Court for $375,000 for both pain and suffering and economic loss damages.

Shoulder injury and thoracic outlet syndrome (Work-related injury)

29 year old woman who suffered an injury affecting dominant upper limb, namely thoracic outlet syndrome. She had surgery for her condition, and all of her medical information indicated she had made an excellent recovery after the surgery. WorkSafe refused to make any offers in the case and the matter proceeded to hearing before a Judge where a judgment of $140,000 for pain and suffering was achieved.

Adjustment Disorder (work related injury)

54-year-old woman who suffered an adjustment disorder with anxious and depressed mood. Employed by a company who are self-insured for WorkCover. The case resolved for $250,000 without having to issue Court proceedings. Our client was very pleased with the result.

Psychiatric injury (Work-related injury)

57 year old man who suffered a severe psychiatric injury in a terrifying workplace accident.  He had been able to return to work in a limited capacity but could never return to employment where the accident happened. This case was fully prepared and ready to proceed in Court as no offers had been made by the two companies who we say were responsible for the accident. The case resolved for $750,000 just before it was due to commence in Court before a jury.

35 year old man suffered injury to his lower back. He required injections into his back however he was not able to return to his prior employment and commenced work in a lighter role. The client resolved his case prior to going to court for $120,000 for pain and suffering damages and was very happy with the result.

Right shoulder injury (work related injury)

48-year-old woman who suffered a significant right shoulder injury requiring surgical intervention and complicated by the development of frozen shoulder syndrome. The case resolved for $500,000 just prior to the hearing, and well above the amount offered by the insurer at the early stages. The client was very pleased with the result.
