Public Transport Accidents

It is not uncommon for public transport users to be injured due to the sudden stopping of the vehicle in which they are travelling. Other causes of injuries suffered while on public transport include falls dues to the sudden acceleration of a tram, train or bus, and having a heavy object (including another person, or stowed luggage) fall on to a person, causing injury. Falls may also be caused by the driver swerving to avoid obstacles or due to excessive speed, while a fall or impact injury may be caused by collisions with other vehicles or stationary objects such as a bridge or other road infrastructure.

If you are injured on a bus, tram or train as a result of the driving of the vehicle (including due to a sudden stop), you are entitled to make a TAC claim. The incident should also be reported to the relevant public transport authority as soon as possible.
